With there being a spotlight on healthcare and healthcare workers right now, we have been spotlighting those in our community who are the essential workers keeping us safe and healthy. But for plus-size women, not all of those medical experiences are positive. Knowing that they can be so fraught, we caught up with Dr. Marlee Milkis who just graduated from medical school and starts her residency this summer.
Marlee and Ashby discussed everything from the fat bias within the medical field, amongst doctors, and that doctors exhibit toward patients. They also talked tips on advocating for yourself at the doctor's office, and what it's like to enter the medical field in the midst of a pandemic.
