The most nominated artist at the 2020 GRAMMYs was none other than our beloved queen of self-love and body-positivity, Lizzo. Nominated for eight awards, this was a big night for her. Not only was it her first live performance at the GRAMMYs, but also her very first time in attendance.
Before she took stage, and opened the show with a performance of "Cuz I Love You / Truth Hurts," we saw Lizzo hit the red carpet in a floor length strapless white Versace gown complete with a draped white fur.

She's dressed like a gorgeous bride, and why not? After all, this is possibly the biggest night of her life, being the most nominated artist of the year. The look was reminiscent of her "Truth Hurts" music video in which plays is a bride who gives up on her groom and chooses herself instead, and reminding us of the line "I'mma marry me one day," from her self-love anthem, "Soulmate."

Lizzo opened the show wearing a floor length embellished black off-the-shoulder gown and before she began crooning "Cuz I Love You," she dedicated the performance, and the evening, to the late Kobe Bryant. Wearing an all-black dress, her mourning over the very recently deceased basketball legend felt genuine. She sang with dimly lit ballerinas dancing behind her, then magically disappeared while the ballerinas took our attention, only to return in a completely new outfit for "Truth Hurts."

Lizzo often performs in bodysuits, jumpsuits, and platform sneakers and so do her back-up dancers, The Big Grrls, making this ensemble very true to her aesthetic. When an invisible table arrived with her flute, lovingly named Sasha Flute, Lizzo's flute solo in the middle of "Truth Hurts" was captivating.

Lizzo won the award for Best Pop Solo Performance for "Truth Hurts" and said in her gracious acceptance speech, "This is the beginning of making music that feels f**king good, that liberates people," and, "let's continue to reach out, hold each other down, and lift each other up." Lizzo also won a GRAMMY for Best Urban Contemporary Album for "Cuz I Love You," and Best Traditional R&B Performance for "Jerome."

As if three looks wasn't enough, Lizzo made one more outfit change to pose with her awards in the press room. This silver fringe gown gave a nod to the trend of the evening: fringe. Everyone from Billy Porter to Rosalía were sporting fringe on the runway.
