I love a good style challenge because it always makes me get really creative with my outfits, so I'm often challenging myself to see what I can come up with. My first week at Ori, I wore the Easy Breezy Skirt every day. On Monday I was totally excited, but by Friday I was ready to wear something new. Now, somehow, I find it to be my go-to plus-size skirt and can think of countless ways to wear it. But I wasn't totally convinced I'd feel the same way about the Everywhere Midi Dress. I've had countless plus size casual midi dresses in my virtual shopping carts lately, something about the silhouette is so appealing and easy. Though I absolutely loved the way it felt and looked when I wore it at the photoshoot, I wasn't sure I'd be able to find the right ways to style it to make it feel like me.
Here's how it looked during the photoshoot, with minimal styling:
Pretty gorgeous, right? So if I looked and felt great wearing it during the photoshoot, I knew I could make it work for a week at work.
Monday - Tried & True
When I'm not quite sure how to style an outfit, I pair it with a denim jacket and booties. It always makes me feel put-together, and it goes with just about anything. I felt great in this look, because I was reminded just how comfy this dress is and then I felt much more confident about wearing it for a week straight.
Tuesday - Pretty Playful
Lately I've been really into hair accessories. They're having a moment right now, well more of a resurgence, thanks to our 90's nostalgia. Scrunchies, headbands, oversized barrettes, and bandanas are all the rage. For some reason, jewelry often feels like a lot of effort to me but a hair accessory feels playful. My go-to moto jacket and white sneakers added to the dress completed the look for a casual but fun feel.
Wednesday - Casually Edgy
Sometimes girly silhouettes, like this swingy midi dress, feel balanced when paired with edgier accessories. While my outfit certainly isn't an extremely edgy copycat of a look from the Sex Pistols, the camo shirt tied around my waist and menswear inspired loafers help neutralize the feminine silhouette. A scrunchie in my hair finished the look.
Thursday - Chambray All Day
After 3 days in the same black dress, I decided to opt for the green version for the end of the week. Instead of tying my button-down around my waist like I did on Wednesday, on Thursday I tied up a chambray shirt like a crop top over my dress and paired it back with my totally casual white sneakers.
Friday - All Dressed Up
A blazer with gold hardware and my sling back mules made for quite the professional outfit. While it was still totally comfy, (how could this dress not be comfy?!) it was also completely chic. I got tons of compliments around the office, and it was clear that people were enamored with the forest green hue.
Which outfit is your favorite? I can guarantee they're all equally comfortable (well, maybe the heels aren't so comfy), but some are more sophisticated and others are more casual. Truthfully, the aptly named Everywhere Midi Dress can go everywhere. From the office to happy hour, from brunch to the baby shower. Where would you wear it?
